Course Overview

ITC Paediatic First Aid Annual Update for Childcare Practioners (3.5 Hours)

This course has been designed for those who work professionally with children under the age of puberty. Changes to the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage in March 2017, now state that: " Providers should consider whether Paediatric First Aiders need to undertake annual refresher training during any three year certification period, to help maintain basic skills and to keep up to date with any changes to Peadiatic First Aid procedures.

This course is primarily for those who work under the Ofsted/EYFS guidedance, and hold either the Emergency Paediatric or Full Paediatric First Aid qualification that is Ofsted/EYFS Compliant and is valid.

Please note this qualification does not replace the need to complete another Emergency Paediatric or Full Paediatirc First Aid qualification every 3 years. This course is just designed to compliment and update previous training.

If you aquire the Full Paediatric First Aid qualification look for the ITC Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF) qualification on our website.

Changes to legislation in effect from 1st October 2013
- how it impacts your business

On 28th November 2011, Professor Ragnar Löfstedt submitted a report called ‘Reclaiming Health and Safety for all’ – this was an independent review commissioned by the government on Health and Safety regulation and formed part of their plans to reform Britain’s health and safety system.

Following this report the decision to remove HSE approval has been accepted by Government and HSE – this will come into effect for every business on 1st October 2013.

The approval of Professor Löfsted’s report has led to a number of risk and evidence-based changes aimed to:

  • lesson  the regulatory  requirements on business where they do not lead to improved health and safety outcomes, and
  • remove pressures on business to go beyond what the regulations require, enabling   them to reclaim ownership of the management of health and safety.

The Good News

Greater flexibility – Training providers will no longer need to be approved by the HSE allowing businesses to choose a training provider suited to their particular workplace.

Reduced Costs – Through being able to choose training providers, this increased flexibility may lead to a reduction in costs.

Which courses are affected by these changes?

Until Oct 13 HSE required accreditation for three work based first aid courses, these are

  • Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day course)
  • First Aid at Work (3 day course)
  • First Aid at Work Requalification (2 day course)

Is 2nd Chance First Aid approved and accredited to deliver First Aid Training?

YES!!! 2nd Chance First Aid has been watching the First Aid environment since Professor Ragnar Löfstedt's report was published to ensure we where able to continue to deliver nationally recognised First Aid qualifications. We placed ourself as a training centre linked to an OFQUAL awarding body called ITC First Aid Ltd.

What does this mean?

This we are able to continue to offer old HSE approved courses, now under a new banner through OFQUAL and ITC First Aid Ltd.

  • ITC Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work QCF ( As old EFAW)
  • ITC Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work QCF (As old FAW)
  • ITC Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work QCF (As old FAWR)

But it doesnt stop there as ITC First Aid Ltd have many more enviroment specific courses already registered on the QCF framework meaning more courses that are more closely tailored to workplace needs.

Testimonial

I would like to thank you for providing us with an absolutely first class first aid course. You had obviously done a great deal of research into the RFU recommendations and this, added to your own knowledge of the game of Rugby, enabled the course to be perfectly tailored to our needs. The recording forms you gave us are also a godsend in this day and age of litigation. We are all now confident we can go out on the pitch when the new season starts, ready to deal with anything!
