This qualification meets Ofsted requirements for those working in early years settings and uses the criteria for effective paediatric first aid training found in Appendix 1 of The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Practice Guidance document.\nThe current EYFS statutory framework requires at least one person who has a current paediatric first aid certificate to be on the premises or outings at all times when children are present.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFrom £750 + VAT for up to 12 attendees, or £85 + VAT per attendee. Contact us for more information about group bookings.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEnquire Now\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRQF / OfQual Recognition\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis qualification is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is regulated by Ofqual (the official regulator of qualifications in England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.\nThis qualification is built from 2 mandatory units of assessment.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnit 1 Emergency Paediatric First Aid (RQF)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnit 1= Credits: 1\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnit 2 Managing Paediatric Illness, Injuries and Emergencies (RQF)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnit 2= Credits: 2\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTotal Qualification= Credits: 3\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPaediatric First Aid Course Content\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeets all the EYFS guidance for effective paediatric training.\n\nTraining is designed for workers caring for children in the absence of their parents.\nThe training leading to a certificate, or a renewal certificate is a minimum of 12 hours.\nThe first aid certificate should be renewed every 3 years.\nResuscitation and other equipment include baby and junior models, as appropriate.\nTraining covers appropriate contents of a first aid box for babies and children.\nTraining should include recording accidents and incidents.\n\nThe course covers:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlanning for first aid emergencies involving babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDealing with emergencies involving babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResuscitating babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecognising and dealing with shock in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecognising and responding appropriately to anaphylactic shock in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecognising and responding appropriately to electric shock in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecognising and responding appropriately to bleeding in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to burns and scalds in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to choking in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to suspected fractures in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to head, neck and back injuries in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecognising and responding appropriately to cases of poisoning in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses of babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to eye injuries in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to bites and stings in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to the effects of extreme heat and cold in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nResponding appropriately to febrile convulsions in babies and children\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecognising and responding appropriately to the emergency needs of babies and children with chronic medical conditions, including epilepsy, asthma, and diabetes\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRecognising and responding appropriately to meningitis and other serious sudden illness\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPaediatric First Aid Assessment\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning is proven via the following assessment method:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n20 question multi-choice answer paper at the start of the practical day, to ensure theoretical knowledge has been retained during the e-learning element of the course.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOngoing practical assessment by the course trainer/s throughout the duration of the course in a low stress environment.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPaediatric First Aid Course Duration\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n6 Hours e-learning which must be completed prior to attendance on the practical day, followed by 1 Days practical training and assessment.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWith 12 hours minimum total guided learning hours.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPaediatric First Aid Course Package\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn completion of training, successful candidates should be able to:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMinimum of 1 trainer per 12 attendees\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInteractive hands-on practical training\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne AED training unit per 2 attendees\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOne CPR training manikin (Adult) per attendee.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEasy to follow individual course manual.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA recognised qualification certificate with 3 years license to practice.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPaediatric First Aid Certification / Revalidation\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOn successful completion of the course, attendees will be issued with the Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid RQF certificate valid for 3 years.
