First Aid at Work Re-Qualification Course Overview
Employers have to risk assess their workplace first aid requirements and the (2 Day) Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work Requalification RQF course is one of the statutory qualifications for this purpose. This requalification course is required every 3 years to maintain the original (3 Day) Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work RQF license to practice.
This qualification is ideal for larger workplaces and / or workplaces that have been risk assessed as HIGH risk.
All candidates must attend the full 12 + hours contact teaching hours in order to fulfill the qualification ‘license to practice’ requirements.
Candidates MUST supply their previous First Aid at Work qualification details before attending the course. If individuals book on, or are booked on by an employer, the course with an invalid certificate NO STATUTORY CERTIFICATE CAN BE ISSUED.
The full FAW and Requalification FAW certificates are valid for 3 years.
RQF / OfQual Recognition
This qualification is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is regulated by OfQual (the official regulator of qualifications in England, Wales and Northern Ireland).
FAW re-qualification training should cover the topics of the full FAW course in sufficient detail to ensure students are competent on completion. See Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work RQF course content for further details.
This Qualification consists of two modules with both module make the Full Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work:
Unit 1 Emergency First Aid at Work (RQF)
- Unit 1= Credits: 1
Unit 2 Recognition & Management of Illness & Injury in the Workplace
- Unit 2= Credits: 2
Total Qualification= Credits: 3
First Aid at Work Re-Qualification Course Content
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizure);
- Administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR);
- Correctly use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) including following the voice prompts and correct pad placement;
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is choking;
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding;
- Administer first aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock;
- Provide appropriate first aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters).
Provide emergency first aid at work (see above);
Administer first aid to a casualty with:
- Injuries to bones, muscles and joints, including suspected spinal injuries;
- Chest injuries;
- Burns and scalds;
- Eye injuries;
- Sudden poisoning;
- Anaphylactic shock;
- Recognise the presence of major illness and provide appropriate first aid (including heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).
First Aid at Work Re-Qualification Assessment
Assessment method:
Ongoing practical assessment by the course trainer(s) throughout the duration of the course in a low stress environment.
First Aid at Work Re-Qualification Course Duration
First Aid at Work Re-Qualification Course Package
- Minimum of 1 trainer per 12 attendees.
- Interactive hands on practical training.
- One CPR training manikin (Adult) per attendee.
- Easy to follow individual course manual.
- A recognised qualification certificate with 3 years license to practice.
First Aid at Work Re-Qualification Certification / Revalidation
On successful completion of the course, attendees will be issued with the Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work RQF certificate valid for 3 years.
The full First Aid at Work qualification is revalidated again by completing an Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work RQF Re-qualification course over 12 + hours, providing the original FAW certificate is within its valid lifetime.
Attendees MUST supply their previous First Aid at Work qualification details before attending the course. If individuals book on, or are booked on by an employer, the course with an invalid certificate NO STATUTORY CERTIFICATE CAN BE ISSUED.
The full FAW and Re-qualification FAW certificates are valid 3 years.
Holders of the qualification are strongly recommended by the HSE to attended a 3 hour Annual Update training course every year.
First Aid at Work Re-Qualification Course Cost
On-site courses can be held at your own venue, starting from £850 + VAT for up to and including 12 attendees.
